This Place

This Place

I was born the son of a working man,
he and ma divorced when I was ten.
I saw him sliding down the darkest pit
that a ten year old was ever allowed to see.

I never liked school, but it was alright:
nobody pushed me around and I could stand a fight.
I met the sweetest girl when I was sixteen
and then I started strumming this damn old thing.

When will I grow?
When will I grow, my only love?

First time she went away, something tiny broke;
the second time I'd learnt to let her go.
But soon enough I was running after her
and that's how I ended in this place I hate.

When will I grow?
When will I grow?
When will I grow?
When will I grow, my only love?

no eres bienvenido, nadie te presta atención;

Hemos fracasado escribiendo canciones,
hemos fracasado creando hogares,

Excelente, tienes varias opciones:

The Spanish Joyride

You feel so stranged,
no one calls you by your name,
you're a slave to the abstractions of a bank.

Now they're putting you on the road
but where are you supposed to go
if the borders are all closed to your kind?

You're advised to leave,
you're not welcomed, you're not heeded,
you're mostly a misdemeanor to the state

And their logic is the more sound
as you take a look around
and meet the ones you are pushed to travel with

(Your choices are)
Yeah, they're right. you have choices:
to become a decent member of the future.
And you have even more choices:
to become a former kind of Western man
Oops, it turned out to be the same thing

Now they're drawing crooked lines,
messing up with space and time,
they are measuring to the last beat of our hearts.

And more often than not
we are eager to play our parts
and shut our mouths, shut our ears and shut our eyes

We have failed at writing songs,
we have failed at building homes
we have failed at everything we should have not (for the sake of us)

Now we're just a herd of cows
cowish faces in the crowd
guided kindly to our corner in the barn

(Your choices are)
Excellent, you have some choices:
to become a decent member of the future.
Oh, mama,
to become a former kind of Western man
Oops, it turned out to be the same thing
